Microscopic Flow
Controlling the flow and understanding the behavior of fluids at the small scale allows for the miniaturization of fluidic systems, with application ranging from cell manipulation to better diagnostic testing to creation of multiphase flows and structures. Moving, mixing, using microscopic amounts of fluid is the essence of microfluidics, a field that much like nanotechnology, incorporates concepts and techniques from a variety of scientific disciplines, including physics, chemistry, and biology. The multidisciplinary culture of the Singh Center makes it an ideal place for the study of microfluidics and its role in nanotechnology.
